Setup Center
The Setup Center is your guided onboarding checklist in Digital Bahi. It evaluates your current business configuration in real time and shows which foundational steps are complete, which required steps still need attention before you start trading, and which optional masters are recommended for full accounting coverage.
What is this?
Instead of manually checking multiple menus to see whether your business is ready for daily Mandi operations, the Setup Center provides:
- An overall Readiness Status (Ready to Trade, Needs Attention, or System Blocked).
- A 10-step ordered checklist separated into Required (blocking) and Recommended tasks.
- A dedicated Other setup & master settings section directly below the checklist for configuring statutory Mandi tax rates, chart of accounts, account groups, weighing units, interest policies, HSN lookup, stock adjustments, financial years, and document number series.
- A persistent Setup Progress Bar at the top of the workspace whenever any setup tasks remain incomplete.
- Setup progress
- Required and recommended tasks
- Task actions
- Back to Dashboard
Newly registered Owners first see a shorter onboarding view containing Business Profile, Financial Year, Commodities, Charges, and optional Opening Balances. It uses the same saved information and setup screens as the full Setup Center; it is not a separate configuration system.
- Essential setup
- Optional starting information
- Skip for now
- Continue to Dashboard
When should I use it?
- On Day One: Complete the required onboarding items first, then return to the full 10-step Setup Center for recommended setup.
- At the Start of a New Financial Year: Verify that your current Financial Year is open and your Account Opening Balances have been reviewed.
- For Ongoing Master Configuration: Open Setup in the left sidebar at any time and scroll to Other setup & master settings to manage Chart of Accounts, Account Groups, UOM / Units, Mandi Tax & Fee Setup, Interest Policies, Financial Years, or Number Series.
- When Adding New Staff: Staff members can check the Setup Center to see what has already been configured; if a user does not have permission to complete a specific task, the button automatically indicates Ask a business admin.
How to use it
- Open Setup from the left navigation menu (or click the Setup Progress Bar at the top of any screen).
- Review your overall readiness banner at the top of the page.
- Click the action button on any incomplete step in the Business setup checklist to jump directly to that configuration screen.
- Once you save your changes on the target screen, return to the Setup Center where the step status updates automatically.
- Scroll down to Other setup & master settings whenever you need to configure additional masters or policies not shown in the main checklist.
The 10 Setup Checklist Steps Explained

| 2. Financial Year | Required | Confirm one current, open, unlocked Financial Year that covers today's date. |
| 3. Commodities | Required | Have at least one active commodity with a valid weight unit in Commodities. When incomplete, the action opens the Platform Catalog Import directly so you can add standard Mandi crops in bulk. |

| 5. Account Opening Balances | Recommended | Review and record at least one non-zero opening debit or credit in Account Opening Balances within the current Financial Year. |
| 6. Farmers | Recommended | Add at least one active farmer in Farmers. |
| 7. Buyers | Recommended | Add at least one active buyer/party in Buyers. |
| 8. Charges | Required | Have at least one active operational charge in Charges, and ensure every active charge is linked to an active ledger account. |
| 9. Opening Stock | Recommended | Record your existing physical inventory in Opening Stock, or click I have no opening stock if you are starting fresh without carryover stock. |
| 10. Fixed Assets | Recommended | Record at least one active asset in Fixed Assets if you track business equipment, vehicles, or godown assets for depreciation. |

Marking Opening Stock as "Not Applicable"
If your business is starting fresh with empty godowns and has no carryover inventory from previous books:
- Locate Add opening stock in the Setup Center checklist.
- Click I have no opening stock.
- The Setup Center marks the Opening Stock step as complete so your setup progress reaches 100%.
- If you later discover carryover stock that needs to be entered, click Undo no-stock choice on the Opening Stock step or record an entry directly in Opening Stock.
Readiness Statuses
- Ready to Trade: All Required steps (Business Profile, Financial Year, Commodities, and Charges) are complete. You can record Arrivals, Purchases, and Sales while continuing to add Recommended items.
- Needs Attention: One or more Required steps are still missing required fields or mappings.
- System Blocked: Core system provisioning (such as default accounts, document number series, or standard charges) requires reconciliation by support or an administrator.
